Nursing Case Australian Bureau of Statistics

Question: Dicuss about the Nursing case. Answer: Loitja is a lady of 58 years old with cardiovascular diseases. When a person age, so do the blood vessels. They become less flexible, and the flow of blood becomes slower as the vessel gets constricted. Cholesterol leads to the formation of plaques which are fatty materials that gets deposit along the walls of the artery, making the flow of blood much slower (ecu.edu.au., 2016).The patient with such disease factors tend to have heart diseases. At this age, women tends to develop cardiovascular disease more than men. It has been estimated that people living in remote areas with no proper amenities like access to health care facilities, nutrition, and physical activity as like Loitja, have 25% of death due to cardiovascular disease. It has been seen that the indigenous Australians are likely to develop this disease twice than the non-indigenous ones (Aihw.gov.au., 2016). Aboriginal Health Promotion and Chronic Care is the ATSI government oriented program which provides local health services and programs to the indigenous people. These programs could easily manage and prevent the high occurrence of the cardiovascular disease in the indigenous communities. There program includes six activities, and they are as: Different settings of health programs and services Engagement within the community Delivery of program and service to the indigenous community Change and development in the organization Partnerships collaboration Development in workforce It is often seen that accessing the health care services in the remote areas for the indigenous community is very critical. Since Loitja stayed in one of such remote areas of Australia, so it is difficult for her to access the health services in the urban places. Therefore, the government has made this easy with the implementation of few policies. They are: Health insurance coverage Transportations made easier Facility to communicate with the healthcare providers 2. The strategy of Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer could help the enrolled nurse to respect and understand the needs of the people living in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island (Barwonhealth.org.au., 2016). They ensure that there is a formation of a cultural relationship between the people receiving the medical needs and the enrolled nurse giving them. Through this, it is easier for the nurse to understand the health condition of the patient and accordingly prescribe them the proper medications. The key role of this strategy is as follows: It gives assistance face to face, on site, to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. They collect the data, give service and spend equal time with the patients in understanding them. It provides information and educates the working staff and teaches the Aboriginal patients and their families to get the best results. It also provides with social and cultural support (org, 2016) 3. After studying the strategy of Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer, I feel that it is one of the best strategies in shaping the health policy of Australia. ( Welcome to the Department of Health. 2016). It is a holistic approach which aims to provide the best quality of healthcare services to the patient (Commonwealthfund.org,2016). I feel that the Aboriginals have suffered a lot due to the British Colonization, and they require the best of the primary health services to make their health condition good. Through this, I would like to invest in and make research in the transdisciplinary education where I could meet the health needs of the patient. Further, I would work with the non-health agencies and organizations which are responsible for providing the community services to these people. I would also focus on the safety and quality of the primary health care provided to the Indigenous. I would also aim to establish partnerships between the communities and the patients who would be r eceiving this health services. References: (2016).Aihw.gov.au.
